Annual ‘Best Of Africa’ 2021 Awards Presented By Forbes



Forbes in partnership with FIN recently concluded the Forbes-FIN Roundtable conference which was held on 6th August 2021 via virtual meeting. As a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the event was held online. One of the major highlights of the event was the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards presented to selected candidates from all over Africa. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was presented with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021. The award was presented to Dr. Rajan Mahtani for his significant contributions towards the Zambian banking and financial industry. Dr. Mahtani is attributed for redefining the banking industry of Zambia. He is the founder and current Group Executive Chairman of the Mahtani Group of Companies, a company established in 1981. Since its establishment, the company has rose to prominence by expanding to several national and international locations such as Malawi, South Africa and international locations such as United Kingdom. At the same time, the company has expanded to several sectors including agriculture, mining, real estate, energy, finance & insurance services. Across each of these sectors, the company has dedicated itself towards empowerment, growth and development. Apart from his business contributions, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was also recognised for his significant philanthropic contributions. He is the founder and present chairman of the Prison Fellowship Zambia which is a program aimed towards providing care and support for inmates, ex-inmates as well as their families. Furthermore, Dr. Rajan Mahtani is also credited for improving the standards of the law education in Zambia by establishing the Stephen Malama award, which is a program providing scholarships for top law graduates in Zambia.
