Evidence And Truth Triumphs Over All As Dr. Mahtani Win Long-Pending Portland Cement Zambia Case

Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani has been finally announced as the legal owner of the Portland Cement Zambia factory. Dr. Rajan Mahtani is a noted businessman and philanthropist in Zambia with numerous successful businesses including but not limited to Portland Cement Zambia, Mahtani Group of Companies and Finsbury Investments. It is worthy to note here that the case of Portland Cement Zambia is age old and was first registered by Dr. Rajan Mahtani himself. The case was registered at the Lusaka High Court where it went for more than a decade. Despite sharing numerous testimonials and evidences, the final judgement from justice Nkonde was extremely controversial as it was announced that Ventriglias were only shareholders of the Zambezi Portland Cement. As a result, Dr. Mahtani was left with no choice but to approach the Court of Appeal, a higher judicial system.

Court of Appeal is one of the highest judiciary bodies in Zambia in line with the Supreme Court. As a result, justice was expected from the court which was ultimately provided. The judge at the Court of Appeal was justice Mwinde who gave the final judgement on 31st January 2019. According to this judgement, Dr. Rajan Mahtani owned Finsbury Investments is majority shareholder of the Zambezi PortlandCement with 58 percent shares at the factory. On the other hand, it was confirmed that Ventriglias owned Ital Terrazzo Limited held just 42 percent shares at the Zambezi Portland Cement factory and are the minority shareholders without any legal ownership over the factory.

Based on this shareholding pattern, it is clear that Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the real owner and legal proprietor of the Portland Cement Zambia factory.
