Dr.Rajan Mahtani Extends Support For President of Zambia.
Even though we are nearing the end of the twenty-first century, the discussion surrounding the death penalty is still active. On May 25, 2022, Hakainde Hichilema, the current president of Zambia, put this discussion to rest. President Hakainde Hichilema said today, which is also recognized as Africa Day, that he intends to completely abolish the death penalty row from Zambian law. Despite some criticism, this news received a large number of high-quality responses. The well-known businessman and philanthropist Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani further added to the debate by saying that the Zambian government's problems cannot be solved by executing criminals. Dr. Mahtani emphasized that there is broad support for abolishing the death penalty around the world, and this support is also evident in Zambia. As a result, the Zambian President made a choice that was resolute, ambitious, and most of all, someone who respects the "rule of law," respects fundamental human dignity, and respects fundamental human rights will recognize the need to eliminate a law that is cruel, inhumane, and demeaning. Similar to Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, he welcomed the decision and said it had turned out to be the right one from a spiritual standpoint. According to Dr. Rajan Mahtani, Jesus Christ's death on the cross atoned for all sins committed by everyone who trusted in him. As a result, it is senseless to kill people whose deaths have already been atoned for by the "Son of God." From a religious perspective, Dr. Mahtani further stated that only those who have not committed any sins in this world are eligible to carry out executions and that such individuals are uncommon in the modern world. As a result, the death penalty is immoral and incorrect from a non-religious, social, and legal perspective. Dr. Mahtani added that his organization, Prison Fellowship Zambia, will support this choice fully on a legal and regulatory level.
