As Per Final Decision From Court Of Appeal, Dr. Mahtani Legal Owner Of Zambezi Portland Factory

Dr. Rajan Mahtani is a noted businessman and philanthropist in Zambia with numerous successful businesses. Some of his top companies in Zambia are Mahtani Group of Companies and Finsbury Investments. He is also the owner of many successful international businesses, majorly in United Kingdom. Despite the various hardships and challenges he has been continuously facing while working in Zambia, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has never shied away from ethical and transparent business policies and practices. While majority of the companies and individual businesses in Zambia sooner or later give in to unethical and illegal activities, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has stayed his ground and has always maintained an ethical and transparent business policy for all his companies. 


Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s true patience was tested when the Portland Cement Zambia factory was illegally taken away from him. After that, he registered a case at the Lusaka High Court. However, the challenges of the Zambian legal system failed him again when after ten years of stretching the case, the final judgement announced by the Lusaka High Court was extremely controversial. According to this judgement, the Ventriglias were announced as majority shareholders of the Zambezi Portland Cement. 

After this event, Dr. Rajan Mahtani approached the Court of Appeal. The Court of Appeal announced its final decision on 31st January 2019. As per this decision, Dr. Rajan Mahtani owned Finsbury Investments was found to be majority shareholder of the Portland Cement factory with 58 percent shares at the factory. On the other hand, the Ventriglias held only 42 percent shares and were the minority shareholders of the Zambezi Portland Cement factory. Based on this shareholding pattern, Dr. Mahtani is the legal owner of the factory.
