Zambian President Plans To Abolish The Death Penalty, Receives Support.

It was a historic day for Zambia's criminal justice system when the country's president announced plans to abolish the death sentence in the legal system. Both inside and outside of Zambia, there was strong support for this proclamation, including that of well-known businessman and philanthropist Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani. President Hakainde Hichilema announced his determination to end the death penalty on the eve of Africa Day. Dr. Rajan Mahtani, the organization’s founder and current chairman warmly supported this claim. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is highly recognized in Zambia for his extensive charity work over many years. For instance, Dr. Mahtani established the Stephen Malama prize and scholarship to honor Zambia's top law graduates. The 15,000 Kwacha cash prize that comes with this honor provides a lot of support to the qualified students. To teach prisoners the teachings and lessons of Jesus Christ, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani established Prison Fellowship Zambia (PFZ), a Christian Outreach Program. The organization was established more than 37 years ago and has since developed into Zambia's top outreach program for giving convicts, ex-prisoners, and their families access to criminal justice, a fair trial, and fundamental human rights. The Zambian President's bold but intelligent pronouncement was hailed by Dr. Rajan Mahtani and his group, who voiced their complete support for this decision. Dr. Rajan Mahtani congratulated the President and said that only someone who is passionate, empathetic, and conscious of the significance of basic human rights can accomplish this. Dr. Rajan Mahtani, through his organization Prison Fellowship Zambia, will fully endorse the President's pick and will provide full legal and regulatory support to ensure that this decision sees the light of day.
